Dickey Lee and Steve Duffy wrote “She Thinks I Still Care" and it was first recorded and released by George Jones in April 1962 and it spent 23 weeks on the charts with 6 weeks at Number 1. Anne Murray later recorded and released it as “He Thinks I Still Care” and it returned to Number 1 on the Country charts in 1974. Connie Francis’ version also in 1962 crossed over and went to Number 57 on the Pop (Hot) chart and to number 18 on the Easy Listening chart. Other artists who have recorded and released the song are Little Willie John, Del Shannon, Bill Haley & His Comets (Spanish version), Cher, Jerry Lee Lewis, Merle Haggard, The Kendalls, Michael Nesmiths, Glen Campbell, Leon Russell, John Fogerty, Elvis Presley, Kirsty MacColl, James Taylor, Teddy Thompson, Patty Loveless, Gina Jeffreys, Watkins Family Hour and Insecure Men.
