Even Stevens, Eddie Rabbitt and David Malloy co-wrote Drivin' My Life Away" and Eddie Rabbitt recorded and released it as the first single on his 1980 album Horizon. The song went to Number 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and hit Number 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100.  The song was featured on the soundtrack of the 1980 movie Roadie starring Meat Loaf and Art Carney.
